Solius: The Magic Castle is a video game being developed by Eight Ball Gaming, and it is our debut title.
The game is mostly patterned after classic games from the NES and Super Nintendo; it uses 2D visuals and simplified gameplay designed to emulate what old Super Ninentendo games delivered. The game is a side-scrolling platformer much like Castlevania, Mega Man X, and Super Ghouls and Ghosts.
Within the context of the game, Solius is a castle that has been taken over by demons. As the player, you play a knight of Solius, and you must venture through the castle to vanquish the demons and restore the castle to its true order. Within the castle there are magic doors that transport people to other worlds. You will need to go through these doors and into these other worlds to fight the demons and keep them from spreading to and infesting these other worlds.
As the player progresses through the game, they will find pieces of a magic set of armor that will give the player new abilities. These include being able to double-jump, cast magic, deflect attacks, and more.
I saw Solius at Fantasy-Con and/or Comic Con. What happens next with your game?
Unfortunately, the funding campaign for Solius was unsuccessful. But it is not forgotten! However current progress has been slowed since I am unable to put in the development time I desire, and I am not providing regular updates on the project. If you want to be informed when the game is ready for release, please either like us on Facebook or submit your email on the form to the right.
What system/platform will Solius be available for?
We want to put Solius on as many platforms as we can. It will be available on PC (for Windows, Mac, and Linux) and if we can meet the stretch goals on our Kickstarter campaign it will be available on Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Wii U. It will also be available on the Ouya, nVidea Shield, and any Android device that has a controller input.
It will not be available for mobile devices that can only use a touchscreen. It will not be available for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
Any other questions?
If you have any other questions about the game, just ask us and we’d be happy to answer!
